IBC2013: Teleste at the Forefront of Future Television

TURKU, FINLAND – 20/08/2013 – Teleste, an international technology group specialised in broadband video and data communication systems and services, has joined forces with major media technology companies from five European countries to participate in an industry-driven Celtic-Plus research project: H2B2VS – HEVC Hybrid Broadcast Broadband Video Services. The project investigates the hybrid distribution of TV programmes and services over broadcast and broadband networks, focusing on key factors that will significantly impact the delivery of multimedia contents in Europe. The project will be carried out during the period 2013-2015 and it is coordinated by Thomson Video Networks.

Vienna, Austria, 29 July- 2 August 2013, 105th MPEG Meeting

In contribution m30300 presented at the 105th MPEG Meeting in Vienna, H2B2VS submitted a follow-up on hybrid MPEG-2 TS/broadband delivery scenarios with suggested modifications to the existing working draft. The proposal includes a new syntax based on descriptors for future extensibility, a more compact representations of URLs, signaling of splicing points. The timing information has also been extended to carry SMPTE time codes and NTP timestamps.
